Canción de la Tierra

Earth song

Hoy hemos empezado una nueva ronda de centros. Nos encanta trabajar en los equipos. Esta semana estamos aprendiendo que nuestro planeta está formado por agua y tierra. Uno de nuestros centros es la canción de la Tierra, que nos ayuda a memorizar el vocabulario nuevo. Los niños y niñas de la clase 120 ya saben muchas cosas:¡Pregúntanos!


Today we started new centers round. We love working in teams. This week we are learning that our planet is made of land and water. One of our centers is the Earth song. This song help us remember the new vocabulary. Boys and girls in classroom 120 have learned a lot:

Buscamos palabras frecuentes en la canción y las resaltamos con cinta de color. 

We found high frequency words in the song and we highlight them with color tape.

Seguimos practicando estrategias de buenos lectores. Ya sabemos cuales son las tres maneras de leer, esta vez practicamos la manera 2 "Leer las palabras" pero de una forma un poco diferente y divertida. Cada estudiante buscaba las palabras frecuentes, pero esta vez cuando encontraban una la apuntaban en una pegatina amarilla. Las palabras frecuentes son palabras que se repiten mucho y están por toooodas partes (en los libros, en las canciones, en los carteles del cole...).

We keep working on strategies to be good readers. We already know the 3 ways to read. This time we practiced number 2 "Read the words" but in a fun way. Each student found the high frequency words and wrote them down on a sticky note. We called high frequency words the ones that repeat over and over everywhere (we found them in books, songs, posters...).

Al final nos reunimos todos y compartimos lo que habíamos encontrado, ¡en todos los libros se repetían estas palabras! entre todos las leímos y nos salió un mensaje loco muy divertido.

At the end, we gathered in the carpet and shared what we found. These words are in every book! we read them  all and we got a crazy fun message.

Ena the whale

Ya hemos aprendido muchísimo sobre las profesiones y los inventores. Ahora, estamos empezando un nuevo proyecto sobre nuestro planeta Tierra, los continentes y los países. 

Hemos empezado aprendiendo que nuestro planeta tiene tierra y tiene agua, que son los continentes y los océanos. Aquí os dejamos una canción que estamos aprendiendo sobre uno de nuestros amigos del océano: ¡Ena la ballena!

We have learned so much about careers and inventors. We are starting a new unit about the Earth, the continents and countries.  

We are learning that our planet has land and water, oceans and continents. Here is a song we are learning about one of our friends in the ocean: Ena the whale!

OCEAN WORLD PROGRAM

VISITA DE LA BIÓLOGA MARINA

Hoy tuvimos una visita muy especial, la bióloga marina. Ella nos enseñó a todos los niños y niñas de Kindergarten esqueletos, conchas y animales de verdad para que aprendiésemos sobre la vida en el océano. Nos sorprendió mucho el tamaño de los huesos de la ballena, especialmente la costilla que ¡era más grandes que la propia bióloga!

Today we had a special visit. The marine biologist came to Barbieri School to show all the kindergarteners many fish skeletons and real animal to learn about the ocean life. 

We were fascinated about the size of the whale bones, specially its rib that was bigger than the biologist!

¡Feliz primer día de primavera!

Happy first day of Spring!

Aunque no lo parezca, hoy celebramos el primer día de primavera. Con una gran nevada y las dos horas de retraso para ir al cole. 

A pesar del poquito tiempo que hemos tenido hoy, los valientes que han asistido a clase han podido crear y decorar sus conejitos de primavera, explicar a Sra. Rodríguez todo sobre Isaac Peral, ir a la biblioteca, aprender a usar el blog en la sala de ordenadores y hasta leer en la mesa de lectura guiada conmigo.

Even though it does not seem like it, today we celebrate the first day of Spring. With a great snow storm and two hours delay to school opening. 

Despite the limited time we had, the brave students that came today had the opportunity to create and decorate spring bunnies, explain to Sra. Rodríguez all about Isaac Peral, go to the library, learn how to use the blog in the computer lab and even read with me in the guided reading table!

Hoy hemos estado investigando sobre inventor español, Isaac Peral. Hemos visitado virtualmente su museo en la ciudad de Cartagena (España) y hemos aprendido una canción sobre su invento más famoso ¡el submarino!

Today we have been investigating about the Spanish inventor Isaac Peral. We have virtually visited his museum in Cartagena (España) and we have learned a song about his most famous invention: the submarine!

Escritura interactiva: leemos y buscamos entre todos las palabras que faltan. Después las escribimos entre todos en la pizarra.

Interactive writing: we read together the text and look for the missing words. Then, we write the missing words in the board. All the students helped.
